Life Coaching - Putting Yourself on the List

One of the first rules in life coaching is to remind your client that they are important. They cannot expect anyone else to take care of them. They must take responsibility for their own life. If their life is not what they want it to be, well, they need to do something to change it. This means keeping commitments they make to themselves. This means taking time to do what they think is important. This means putting themselves on the list.

Putting yourself on the list does not mean that you quit keeping commitments to other people. It does not mean that you become self-focused and selfish. It does not mean that you are the only thing on your list. It just means that you finally are going to give something back to yourself.

It is vital that even life coaches have life coaches (or friends or family) to remind them about this first rule. I have suffered myself from forgetting to put myself on the list until I have given everything away that I have to give, and then find myself breaking down. So, no matter what you do in life, make sure that you take time to renew yourself otherwise you may not have anything let to give.
