"A life coach is someone you call to discuss marriage, career, personal fitness, decorating, religion. ... It's all about getting life unstuck." Emily Minor, Palm Beach Post Columnist
Why does someone need a life coach?
Jay Block, a career coach since the early 1990's explains: "The average person has 60,000 thoughts a day. The problem is when they're the same thoughts they had 10 years ago."
A life coach can help people transition from lives they are not happy living, to one with greater purpose and direction. "I'll help people, say doctors who don't want to be doctors, go into their own business," he said.
"It seems that people are realizing that it just takes too long to go to a counselor and sit for three years and be in the same place three years from then," Block said. "A counselor listens. A life coach gives advice."
